DESCRIPTION:

Every summer the Texas Forestry Association sponsors the Teacher Conservation Institute (TCI), a week-long summer camp for educators that focuses on the environmental, economic, and social well-being of the state that comes through the scientific stewardship of its natural resources. Who should attend? TCI is appropriate for both formal and non-formal educators, or anyone interested in learning more about forestry and environmental education. Attendees must be at least 18 years of age. What to Expect: Receive training in Project Learning Tree’s interdisciplinary environmental education curriculum designed to teach students critical and creative thinking. Interact with foresters, biologists, loggers, landowners, and mill workers who care for forests and make products you use every day. Tour a forestry museum, seedling nursery, family owned tree farm, timber harvest operation and forest product manufacturing facilities. 40 hours SBEC CPE credit and 40 hours TEEAC credit. Cost: $250 registration fee includes curriculum, Monday-Thursday lodging, meals, and field trip transportation.
